Changes to Lightening Lane and Genie+ at Walt Disney World
Disney has just announced some rather significant changes the Lightening Lane and Genie+ offerings affecting several attractions throughout Walt Disney World Parks.
The changes will be in effect between February 25, 2022 and August 7, 2022.
During this time, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Frozen Ever After and Space Mountain will be included via Disney Genie+ service and will NOT be included as an individual Lightning Lane selections.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Avatar Flight of Passage will be available as Individual Lightning Lane purchases.
Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind has not received an official opening date yet although it has been speculated through a leaked tweet from a Disney Executive this past weekend that the attraction will open Memorial Weekend. This attraction will most likely offered as an Individual Lightning Lane selection when it opens.
Back In December 2021 through early January 2022, Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Frozen Ever After and Space Mountain moved to Disney Genie+ service and were not available as individual Lightning Lane selections.
Disney has previously stated that as crowd levels rise and fall they will switch the attractions in and out of Lightening Lane and Genie+ to better control the flow of crowds through the queues.

Genie Service – This option is available to everyone and it is a free service. The service takes attraction, dining, experience and character preferences and it creates individualized itineraries to help guide the day. This option saves time when planning your day, and offers options for what is available now and later in the day and it will provide tips to help guide you through your day. This service is available across all Disney theme parks.
Genie+ Service – Genie+ replaced one part of the FastPass+ system. Unlike FastPass+ Genie+ is a paid service. Walt Disney World will cost $15 per person, per ticket day and Disneyland will be $20 per person, per ticket day. Genie+ can select a Lightning Lane access window for many popular attractions across the parks. Guests will be able to have one pass at a time with no limit to how many options you can use throughout the day on different attractions. BUT! guests are limited to one Lightning Lane per attraction. Selections can be made at 7:00 am EST on the day of your park visit. You can also make them across multiple parks throughout the day it is not limited to one park. If you’ve ever used MaxPass in Disneyland, it is very similar to that service with the exception of the one option per attraction.
Individual Attraction Selections – Through this system guests can add additional a la carte Lightning Lane selections. Each of these selections are an additional cost that is separate from cost from Genie+. The prices for these attractions vary by attraction, date and park and varies between $7 to $15 per person per ride. Guests can purchase two of these each day and only one per attraction. These attractions only include the most popular attractions at Disney Parks including Rise of the Resistance, Web Slingers, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Radiator Springs Racers. Guests do not have to purchase Genie+ in order to purchase the Individual Attraction Selections but guests can utilize both in one day should they desire to do so. Selections can be made at 7:00 am EST for Disney resort guests and at park opening for all other guests.
