Big Changes Coming to Disney's Polynesian Villiage Resort at Walt Disney World

Disney has recorded record profits since reopening post COVID-19 closure in 2019. Following a months-long closure that was the longest in the companys history. Walt Disney World welcomed guests back with a slow start starting in July 2019. Since, guests have slowly started to flock back to the parks and resorts.

Now, Disney is reporting record setting numbers across the board and the parks and the resorts are packed with Disney goers as guests eagerly return to the magic.

With the cancellation of several Disney Vacation Club announced properties that were previously announced at D23 in 2017, guests were left wondering when Disney would be expanding their resorts. Guests are loving the newest Walt Disney World resorts, Gran Destino Tower and the lastest Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney's Riviera Resort.

Now! Disney will be expanding Disney's Polynesian Village Resort with new villas scheduled to open in late 2024.

“It’s no secret that our Members and Guests love the monorail resorts at Walt Disney World,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “Expanding our Disney Vacation Club offerings at the Polynesian would give our Members and Guests yet another incredible option for staying close to the magic while making vacation memories that last a lifetime.”

Plans for the new project will incude of course additional rooms, new recreation offerings and dining options.

There are currently 380 DVC villas at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows including the largest Deluxe Studios at any Disney Vacation Club resort at Walt Disney World and the Bora Bora Bungalows situated on Seven-Seas Lagoon with prime views of Magic Kingdom.
