Christening of The Disney Wish

Disney's newest ship. The first of three of the Triton class ships was christened today at its home port of Port Canaveral. In a tradition dating back to the vikings, the Disney Wish had its christening ceremony. Granted, back in the Vikings Day, it was christened with blood. Nowardays, it is more tradtional to christen a ship with a bottle of champagne broken over the hull of the ship.

Disney is slightly bucking tradition and instead of having a Godmother of this ship, all Make-A-Wish children, past, present and future will serve as the Godchildren of the Disney Wish.

Don't Forget These on Your Next Cruise

The Disney Wish is the Fifth Disney Cruise Line Ship to hit the high seas and has a maximum capacity of 4,000 passengers with 1,254 total staterooms. The ship weighs in at 144,000 gross tons. The character on the Disney Wish’s stern is Repunzel.  Every Disney Cruise Line ship has an atrium lobby statue celebrating a classic Disney character. The Disney Wish’s bronze-cast pièce de résistance is Cinderella.
